Americans Deserve better.
It can feel like there’s no common ground left in America. But underneath the rage is a unifying dissatisfaction with our elected and appointed leadership failing to deliver on the basics:
A strong economy, better infrastructure and a bright future for the next generation.
It’s time to demand the government delivers for the people.
Let’s get to work.

Most of our politicians just don’t fight for what Americans want. It’s probably because they spend most of their time in a bubble of people who have everything they need and more. But the future cannot be built by and for the ultrarich. Our country is meant to be by and for the people.
We deserve to know what Democrats plan to do if they re-take Congress and the Presidency. Based on current leaders and messaging, it seems like all they will do is condemn Donald Trump and his agenda, without really stopping it or creating a livable future.
Donald Trump is waging war on a variety of communities. Democrats don’t know how to stop him for the same reason they don’t have a vision: they just don’t get it, and they aren’t trying to listen to normal people. To make politicians pay attention, we have to work together and demand they listen.
American Demands is a grassroots movement built to help you and your community pressure politicians to have real vision, or get out of the way. Right now, it can feel difficult to believe that people can really make a difference. Unlike many recent projects focused on Democrats and their platform, American Demands is designed to work in the long term, not to claim quick victories, fundraise, or advance some billionaire’s interests. It’s important we unite behind specific demands and refuse to accept anything less. Every demand is possible through acts of Congress alone. If Democrats win back Congress in 2026, they could do every single thing on this website.
Democrats can’t build the future without making big changes in this country, even if they win elections. If they won’t make big changes, it’s time we do it ourselves.

No one.
(Minus expenses like the website, which were paid by the volunteers you’re about to learn about.)
American Demands is a true grassroots movement. Five people—Rachel Cohen, Tiara Mack, Will McConnell, Marlene Ramirez, and Kennedy Ukelegharanya—volunteered their time over months to draft the Demands. Other people gave feedback, designed the branding, copyedited, posted content, built the website, and more. All of it was done for free.
People should get paid for their work, but we understand it’s very hard to trust anyone getting paid to influence policy. And let’s be honest—nobody was going to pay us to put together a platform for working people anyway. We’re doing this because we believe it’s necessary to save American democracy and create real vision. Join us.
